Hello! Recently I needed to install Ubuntu (11.10) to a new virtual machine. When I installed it, I got the following messages and log:
When I installed FreeBSD (8.2), I get following messages:
Previously created machines (Windows 7, FreeBSD 8 ) are working correctly.
Removing VirtualBox, cleaning the entire system from a safe mode and then installing VirtualBox, did not change anything.
I decided rolled back host backup, from the time when everything worked correctly: nothing has changed!
Comrades, what kind of voodoo is this?

It's called "Windows". But calling it "voodoo" would indeed be more appropriate.KasyanovIV wrote:Comrades, what kind of voodoo is this?

Yes, but I rolled back to the host's backup three-month old! Why nothing has changed?!michaln wrote: It's called "Windows". But calling it "voodoo" would indeed be more appropriate.

Are you installing off a "real" CD/DVD that's passed through? If that's the case try installing from an ISO instead; there's read errors in your Ubuntu log file...

Re: The Dark Curse to installation any OS
I even don't know what to say... It's precisely some kind of voodoo!..
After post from Leak, I assumed that it's due to the fact that I am installing from the disk image mounted with Alcohol 120% (2.0.1.2033). So I mounted the image with the built-in VirtualBox function, and installation was successful!
But that's not all. Then, I again mounted the image using Alcohol, started the installation, and it again was successful! I don't made other manipulations.
I hope, that my magic way to solve this problem, can help someone... So, thanks for help, comrades, but WTF?!

Re: The Dark Curse to installation any OS
Hi, I think the posts above somehow to relate to what I am trying to achieve.
I am trying to get Alcohol 120 (or even alcohol portable, I just want it to work!) to run a old game, Championship Manager 4, though Virtual Box.
Alcohol 120% brings up "emulation failed" messages.?
Alcohol Portable gets the installation part of the CD to work, but then does not forgo the CD requirement when the game is installed and the newly created desktop shortcut is clicked on. I think the full Alcohol working might do better?
I've just downloaded I'm disk but as I really do not have a clue what I am doing thought it best to stop and hit the panic button before I do sth to Virtual Box that I won't know how to remedy.
The CM4 file that I want to mount is either .mdf/.mds.
I don't know how to mount an image via virtual box, I don't know if it just wants .iso, I'm sure that process is posted somewhere but to tell the truth I'm almost too confused to function right now!
SOS someone, please

How you managed to post to a four year old topic is interesting.
Alchohol 120% is a Windows program so I will assume you tried to install it in a Windows guest and it wouldn't do what you thought it would. It may not run in a VM at all.

I clicked the button that was there.
Thanks for taking the trouble to reply. Agreed, it might not work, but there are certainly other ways to get it to work.
