[ASK] Virtual Networking

Post by andihermantyo »

Please help
Confused the network settings in virtualbox ... :D

Want to connect LAN n share the internet : Host OS, Guest OS n the other PC (which use Switch) , all of them using Windows ...
I can't connect all of them
Internet connection using HSDPA modem ...

Host OS there are 3 connections...
-modem Internet connection
-ethernet connection
-VirtualBox-ethernet adapter connection

Confused on setting the IP address, gateway, etc and also the host OS so there are 3 IP Address ...
sometimes can only LAN sharing, n sometimes can only internet sharing, but not both at once ...
There are also settings in VirtualBox networking : NAT, Host Only Adapter, Internal Network Adapter Bridged ... but do not understand the point
I do not quite understand networking

Anyone know? Please help. Thanks

Yes, I know how VirtualBox networking works but that doesn't really help you, because I do not know how your network is set up. I can't help you unless you can tell me how your home network works!

For instance, how does the second PC on your LAN access the Internet? Since your host machine itself has an Internet connection I assume that the second physical PC shares this network connection. Can you tell me how that works? Do you run ICS (Internet Connection Sharing) on your host PC to do that? If you do not know about that, could you list the IPCONFIG of the two physical machines? What OS is running on the host machine?

When we know what network the second physical machine is in and how it gets to the Internet we can pobably make the vm work the same way.
