Hi,

i need help to solve this problem. i have Win7 64bit as my host and Win XP 32bit as my guest. I want to connect my Host (192.168.56.102) and Guest (192.168.56.101) using bridge networking. This is the setting that I set for my network:
- Attached to : host-only adapter
- Name : VirtualBox Host-Only Ethernet Adapter
- Adapter Type : PCnet-Fast III (Am79C973)

I can ping the guest's IP from host, but I cannot ping back from guest to host. I have checked this matter all day and still cannot find the problem, is anybody could give me a hand to solve this? Really thanks for your help.

If you are using the host-only adapter, you are not using bridged networking! Bridged networking uses the physical NIC in the host machine.

The answer to you problem probably lies in the Windows firewall settings, not in your network settings.

Have you got an answer for this? I have the same issue and am currently trying to figure it out.

firewall was my suspect too in the begining. Then I used bridged network for my VM and I can ping the host. So I do not think the firewall is blocking it. I did not check the firewall, though.

thanks!
