every time I restore the machine state in my Windows XP guest the guest OS always crashes (automatically shows boot-up sequence) and upon windows log-on I get the following message: Windows has recovered from a serious error

when I do an error report, Microsoft cannot identify the problem

this happens every time I restore the machine state of an XP guest

What help would you expect? If you have a repeatable bug then provide full details and post them on bugtracker. The devteam will get around to your bug report in a time proportional to the frequency of similar reports from other users. A report of an avoidable problem from one user is unlikely to get anyone very excited.

In the meantime I suggest you turn off the "Automatically Restart" Windows option (in the guest, My Computer | Properties | Advanced | Startup and Recovery Tab | System Failure box ) so at least you can see and report what the crash is.

it seems like Ubuntu is the ONLY Guest that restoring state works for!!! I have that problem with Windows and as for Fedora, restoring state causes VirtualBox to crash!!!
