Let's go back to May of 2009. I came on this forum and asked about the idea of using Gallium3D to power VirtualBox's 3D acceleration. Later in November of 2009, I updated that thread with an article stating that VMware had acquired the Gallium3D project and that they had begun writing a virtual graphics driver for it.
I also filed a relevant bug and was met with a "not-yet" approach by the developers.
Well, it's now February of 2012 and Phoronix has just released some benchmarks comparing VMware's (Gallium3D) acceleration to yours...and you guys lost...miserably.
Are you ready to reconsider?
PS: Writing a Gallium3D driver for my senior project got shot down by the faculty.
