While installing Ubuntu 11.10 32bit as a guest in VirtualBox 4.1.8 r75467 on Windows XP Pro SP3 host i get error "Guru Meditation".
The virtual disk file i choosed is .VDI .
Here's the
log of that error.
Not sure why this error is appearing.. I've also tried installing Linux guest on .VHD (i've got also Win7 Ultimate 32bit on .VHD working fine) but got same error.
Anybody knows what's not working? Cheers.

Are you really trying to run a guest with 900MB RAM on a system that has about 950MB free memory? In such cases, the only question is how exactly it's going to fail...

Ubuntu 11.10 will install with 512MB of ram, but it will be slow and bulky. Especially if you use the Unity desktop which relies heavy on Compiz. Unity 2D might be better or gnome classic.
Another consideration is to not run a lot of programs on the host while you have a guest open. With 2GB of RAM on the host it will not take must to bring the PC to its knees.

Thanks for reply. So the only solution, is to optimize Windows (turn off permanently not used services) and during use of VB, turn off not needed apps. Adding more RAM is not an option because this PC is old and it's not profitable in my case.
Thanks anyway!
