Attaching USB drives

Post by Foot »

All of a sudden I cannot attach USB drives to VB. If I do try I get the following

USB device "Jetflash Mass Storage Device" with UUID {02636423-32a3-43d6-9400-9a84fb924620} is busy with a previous request.

And the details are

Result Code: E_INVALIDARG (0x80070057)
Component: HostUSBDevice
Interface: IHostUSBDevice {173b4b44-d268-4334-a00d-b6521c9a740a}
Callee: IConsole {1968b7d3-e3bf-4ceb-99e0-cb7c913317bb}

I am working with Windows 7 and use VB to run XP so I can use Delphi 7. I have installed the VB extensions and enabled the USB2 controller and "registered" the flash drives at VB setup. The result is that I cannot do backups while this was easy before.

The message means that the host is using the flash drive.

I'm not sure what you mean by "registered the flash drives". You do not register USB drives in VirtualBox. You can however create filters for them. Is that what you meant? If yes then you might like to confirm that the filter still matches the device.

Anyway, I usually find it most reliable to plug the USB device in after the VM window opens, and not depend on the VM stealing the device from the host.

Thanks. Yes I meant using the filter. I have also plugged in the usb drives after starting VB and it used to work, but now it just sits there doing nothing. I have a feeling VB is locking up. I will try again and perhaps remove the filters.

Yes, I would try removing the filters and then perhaps creating new ones.
