Hello, anybody home?
Traffic seems to have fallen off a cliff lately. It looks like Single Sign-On is really putting a crimp in the activity levels here.

Sure, OSSO is an obstacle that people might be reluctant to cross on a whim. Eventually however I expect most lurkers will find a good reason to re-register, especially when they discover that most of the offputting personal details required in the registration can be filled in (quite legitimately) with generic values - and as it becomes generally understood that Oracle is not using these details to spam VBox users.

Re: Hello, anybody home?
I had to reset and reauthorize several times over the past two days; SSO would work once, then fail several times, then work again after reauthorizing, then fail. I tried emailing their contact address late last night with details of the multiple failures -- today it let me in.

That probably was the site. If you kept track of the discussion thread then you'll know that it took several tweaks to get the SSO to work the way we wanted, and there was some problems while the tweaking was going on.hank wrote:I had to reset and reauthorize several times over the past two days; SSO would work once, then fail several times, then work again after reauthorizing, then fail. Re: Hello, anybody home?
People are probably still finding the same problem I found. I never received any email/notice about this SSO change and just came to the forum a few days ago as I normally do but found my auto-login had not worked. So I tried to log in with my normal account and just kept getting rejected. There was no note about any changes on that login page. So I tried both the "forgot password", and later, "forgot username" and waited for a few days each time before I realised that I was not going to get any email. Then, finally, searching around the forums I found discussion of this SSO issue so I went to Oracle site and re-signed up. Took me quite a few days to get here and only because I bothered to persist with it.
So this certainly was not communicated very well!

Re: Hello, anybody home?
It was announced a couple of months ago in the Forums, and it is still being announced as bulletin #1 on the home page (www.virtualbox.org). I don't remember if there was an email announcement (I changed email addresses around that time).
