Lion guests are currently not supported by VirtualBox. We are working on that but not that high-priority.

Frank, I don't think cyber8kh is trying to install Lion as a guest. The message seems to indicate that they can't install the VirtualBox application on Lion host.

Run the "uninstall" script you found in the Virtualbox download.
Trying to install it leaves stuff behind, sometimes, that needs to be cleaned out.
You may also have the file permission problems--lots of discussion in Apple forums about that, no resolution yet. That's not a VB problem, it's a Lion problem, or a problem for people who upgraded to Lion, or something else. I had to wipe my drive and reinstall Lion from scratch to solve those problems (which did include various VB problems it turned out).
I've got OSX 10.7.3 running the current 4.1.8 VBox now -- can open two VMs at the same time and close one or both without crashing, which is a big improvement over OSX 10.7.2. Before this, I had to use VB 4.0.whatever to use two VMs at once without eventually crashing.
