Printer Problems with sharing USB with VM

Hi Every1,

I am having difficulties with this HP Laserjet 1010 printer.
VB is installed on MAC OS X Lion, Guest OS is Windows 7

The printer is installed on both OS's and works fine(ish).
In USB devices, having the printer ticked will allow me to print fine from Windows 7 and having it unticked will let me print from the MAC.

Problems:
If the printer is unticked and I try to print on Guest, the print won;t go through. Fair enough, as the printer isn't "connected"
If the printer is ticked and I try to print on Host, the MAC crashes with a black screen and a Force Restart is required to move on.

To avoid this crash I would like to share the printer between the 2 OS's. This is wanted by the user of the computer as she is not as capable as she wants to be and keeps forgetting to tick and untick so the computer keeps crashing.

The printer is only able to connect via USB but I just can't get the Guest to find the printer on the network.
I've made sure printer and file sharing is on, on the Host, but I don't know if what I'm trying to do is even possible.

Could someone please advise.

Thanks
