You don't get it when it comes to what VBox vRDP functionally supplies, which is 100% correct behavior. The fact that a thin client does not show a typical RDP connection bar is a thin client issue/setting or option and not a VBox one.

What VB offers, as noted before, is similar to a VNC like connection. When you use VNC to a machine, you won't have disconnect in the start menu either. You only get that if you connect to it's own RDP server. Since you use VB's RDP server, the Guest doesn't know about it and thus does not provide you with a disconnect option. You have to use a keyboard shortcut that's available to the thin client (did you check it's documentation?), set it up to show a connection bar or any other means to close the connection, shut down the TC using the power button or a power cycle, or you change the VM config to not use vRDP but the Guest's native RDP feature.

All in all, you may say it's a VB issue, we all say it's a TC issue. If the client software does not provide a disconnect function, you have to use other means to disconnect.
