How do different hosts compare

Hi,

Sorry if this is not the most appropriate forum but none of the others seemed particularly well suited.

Just wondering if anyone has done a study of VirtualBox's performance under differing Host OSs. For example does a basic install of Windows Server 2008 R2 provide better or worse performance for the VMs than say CentOS. Also what about all the different Linus distros, any opinions on which will provide the faster client VM performance.

In my case it will mostly be used for installing various instances and versions of Windows with a couple of different Linux clients and connecting to a Windows network.

Any opinions?

Thanks,
Nick

All of this is open to subjection. You are better off just using an operating system that you are familiar with. Other than that what I say and anyone else will say is going to be different.

You asked almost the same question here: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=47688
It's really what Perry said. Pick what you're most comfortable with. It really doesn't matter what Linux you pick, or Windows. If you're really curious, then look for benchmarks.
