full screen uses not the full screen

Post by Knorpi »

Hi,

when I switch to fullscreen with my newly created Windows 7 box, I always receive a small rectangular area in the middle of my physical screen. It's not the full screen.
What can I do?
(I have a wide screen display)

Hm, when selecting "Install Guest Additions", I receive this:

Failed to download the VirtualBox Guest Additions CD image from ...
Could not locate the file on the server (response: 404)

Ah. You are running the Debian repo version of VirtualBox.
You can download the VirtualBox version of the guest additions from Here
Be sure to get the version that matches your version of VirtualBox.

Hi,

just to be sure: I have Virtual Box 4.0.10 and the guest is Windows 7.

So I look for a Windows installable version for VB 4.0.10, e. g.:
VirtualBox-4.0.10-72479-Win.exe

This will be installed within the guest, right?

But, when it's for the guest (Windows), why is there a menu entry "Install guest additions" in the virtual box GUI, which actually runs on my linux box, which is outside the guest... ? #-)

Thanks
Magnus

The windows guest additions are what you need not the entire windows package. Link is below for version 4.0.10
http://download.virtualbox.org/virtualb ... 4.0.10.iso
As to why the debian version does not have these that is something that you would need to take up with them as they only use the source code of VirtualBox and create their own package.
The reason that it is/should be on the host is because it is an ISO that you mount to the guests cd/dvd. You can't do that from inside the guest.

Second try, without any changes: The disk is mounted and the setup can be executed.
Then, after some other errors, it worked somehow...

Seems not so reliable that all...
