Internet connection problem in guest OS

Post by MiKenning »

I am running Ubuntu 11.10 in my virtualbox manager and for some reason, the network icon never shows a green status circle below it. There is barely an internet connection and it is very spontaneous when the guest OS wants to connect to the internet.

I can connect to the internet in my host OS.

How can I fix this problem?

Let me know if you need any logs from the OS, thanks.

eth5 for the interface usually means several MAC changes. Ubuntu really likes eth0 for the default port and the NM.
You can try fixing this by editing the /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules or you can delete the rules and Linux will configure it on the next boot to see if it helps.

It says I cannot delete the file due to admin permissions.
