Hello.
I am a complete Newbie. I am trying to load Oracle VM VirtualBox on my 2.16 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo mac HD with Lion 10.7.2.
I am not a computer trained person although I am reasonably comfortable with Mac and Windows having used them for 15 or so years.
I looked in the manual for the program and for Youtubes, but could not find actual instructions for the installation. I installed it in my Application file but when I open it up and select new I get the following dialog box that is called "VN Name and OS Type"
It asks for a name
I guessed
/Users/alanfaulkner/VirtualBox VMs/Mac OS X/Mac OS X.vbox
Then under OS type I selected
Mac OS X
Then under Version I selected Mac OS X Server (64 bit)
Then I got a dialogue box that said
Cannot create the machine folder MAC OS X in the parent folder
/Users/alanfaulkner/VirtualBox VMs/Mac OS X/Mac OS X.vbox/Users/alanfaulkner/VirtualBox VMs
Please check that the parent really exists and that you have permissions to create the machine folder.
then there are 2 buttons below, one says
Copy
and the other says
OK
Can someone suggest what I should have done?
Thanks
Alan

Re: Installing VB on Lion
I figured out the issue.
It had to do with my user name info. Something that was changed around when I installed Lion. I fixed it and the rest worked out well.
