RDP to a windows machine, Host or otherwise, is a simple Windows thing and not related to VBox. Use google to search how to enable this feature.

I have exactly the same problem. This is clearly related to VirtualBox because it worked until exactly the time when VirtualBox was installed. As a matter of fact, I was installing VirtualBox over RD, it disconnected towards the end of the installation and since then I am not able to RD into the host (not the VM) anymore. Up to that point I have connected to the host computer over RD every single day and never had a problem until this installation. Any advice is appreciated. Note that I don't have a second NIC (my Win 7 Pro host is a laptop).

Check the RDP and vRDP ports, use currentports(tool) to see whats listening on what port on the Host and on the Guest.

Did anyone solve this? I'm having the exact same trouble. It is definitely related to Virtualbox. When I connect with Remote Desktop to the host, I can only see the virtualbox VM screen (which doesn't allow remote desktop to it). The host is a Windows 2003 server, the VM is Windows 7. I usually can log in multiple times to my server in different sessions, but since I've had this VBox VM running, I can only connect to multiple sessions if Virtualbox is not running. The only way to get that back is to shut down my VM.

Aha, OK, solved this. If you go to the VirtualBox options you'll see there's an option called "Display", under the tab "Remote Display", you'll see there's a port listed there, and it is 3389, the same one that Remote Desktop uses. So I changed this to 3387, and all is well. I can now log in again with multiple sessions, and my sessions don't drop me into the VM with no chance of talking to the host.
