i am using bridged networking from an Ubuntu host, several VM's, one of them is Win7 (with licence!). Sharing Folders to the guest runs into strange phenomena, took me days to reproduce... as described in detail here.

...looks very much like a bug to me. I will not learn how to create a proper bug report, have to take care of more important things now. But if someone could use my steps to recreate the problem and is willing to take this to development, i would greatly appreciate the effort!

Just want to mention: VBox is a great tool, not perfect, but good. I am using it in many ways, found more than one limitation, but many useful use cases as well. Only the networking suffered somewhat with 64-bit and Win7, i suppose...

Please check existing bug reports on Shared Folders, and fill a new one, if necessary.

Oops, this is a pretty old thread...
After all this time, i can say: it is basically a windows issue not present before (but windows got updates since then):

if a downloaded file resides on a shared Folder, it doesnt get trusted by windows and thus fails to execute. My workaround has been - all those years - to copy the file into the vm and execute it from there.
Only recently did i give up on windows completely.
