Shared Folders - Cannot find Path?

Hello,

I've got a clean virtualbox with a Windows 7 host and Windows 7 guest virtual machine, but I'm having problems with the shared folders. I've tried all combinations of the shared folders (permanent, auto-mount), but it doesn't make a difference. When I try to access certain files from inside the guest box through a shared folder I'm sometimes told that the path cannot be found; I can't see any common things that could be causing it. I've got Windows 7 SP1 residing in a folder on the host and am wanting to access it from within the guest, but double clicking it to install it gives an path cannot be found error, yet I can copy it to the desktop of the guest (again through the shared folder) no problem?

Thanks.

Did you by chance map it to a drive letter and try to open files as administrator? 'Cause that is your problem. When you run something as administrator, it doesn't have the same drive mapping for that user, thus it can't find the path. Run those things from the UNC path directly instead.
