Hi,

I have a shared folder "vboxprojects" which worked fine until I changed my set up. I have added a second processor and then the shared folder is empty on the guest system. On host system it contains the data. After changing back to 1 prozessor, all the data is exisiting on guest system. I didn't find anything in the web, had anyone else had this problem? I tried to install the guest additions again, but it doesn't helped.

I'm using MacOS X 10.6.8 as host, Debian Squeeze (with actual guest additions) as guest with Virtual Box 4.1.8.

I am in a very similar situation - OSX 10.7.2 host with WinXP guest, shared folders not working. I have just migrated my VM from an Ubuntu/VB3.2.12 host to OSX/VB4.1.8 so I had put down the failure of my shared folders to either the migration or just my setup of VB4.1.8 on OSX, but I did in the process add a second CPU ... I'll have to check out whether going back to one fixes anything. For whatever reason the guest seems unable to locate the VBOXSVR "host". It was all working fine before

Other than that I can't work out what else to try. So far I have:
1) Updated guest additions
2) Deleted & re-added Shared folder in setup
3) Un-installed and re-installed guest additions
4) Deleting and re-mapping the network drive in the guest
5) Adding (& subsequently deleting) the VBOXSVR entries to WINDOWS/system32/drivers/etc/lmhosts (in guest, obviously)
6) Not checking the auto-mount option in shared folder setup

Anybody know where I can go looking for any additional clues as to what's going on?

For the moment I've got around it with a host-only NIC and a "genuine" network share, but the Shared folders seems faster (and is definitely more secure), so I'd really like to get it working.
