flash fails in winxp after upgrade to 4.1.8

Host=Win7 64 with all recent updates
Guest=XP 32 with all recent updates
hardware=Intel i5 core 661 with it's IGP. 4gb of memory.
virtual box video memory set at 64m using 2d and 3d video, base memory set at 1507mb

After upgrade from 4.1.6 to 4.1.8 the flash app has stopped working in both Firefox v9 and IE v8. Flash version is the current 11.1.102.55.
I have this problem whether or not I upgrade the guest additions to 4.1.8 or not.
I also have a Fedora16 guest where flash is working fine ... even without upgrading the guest additions.

Any one else out there using a somewhat similiar configuration and having a problem with flash?

i will tell you my experience

when i went to youtube to play flash video the screen was black, i did have sound bit no picture

so i right clicked on the screen and changed settings of flashplayer to disable hardware virtualization

and low en behold: it worked !
