[Solved] Windows 7 guest powering off unexpectedly

Hello,
I have a Windows 7 Professional 32-bit guest, in VirtualBox 4.1.8, on Ubuntu 10.10 (kernel 2.6.5-31-generic).
When I boot the guest, I can enter my password. But during the "Welcome" screen, the guest suddenly disappears. In the log it says "Guest requests the VM to be turned off".
I have no idea why.
The problem repeats itself, so in the guest I can't check or change anything.
I created the guest with VirtualBox 4.0 (I think 4.0.14), and the guest additions in the guest are of that version.
The problem started to appear after installing the guest additions. Upgrading to Virtualbox 4.1.8 did not solve the problem.
Any ideas what could be wrong?

Edit: Luckily I had a backup of the disk image, made before installing the guest additions. Installing the guest additions of 4.1.8 on that image solved the problem.
