Cannot import from Win7 to Mac OS X

Hi,
I created an appliance running Win7 on my Win7 PC and exported it to the ova-format. I copied it to my cousins MacBook Air with Mac OS X but cannot import it!
I get the message:

The appliance XYZ could not be imported.
Could not create the clone medium XYZ (VERR_VD_VMDK_INVALID_FORMAT)

Is there an easy solution to this? I actually wanted to prepare the machine before she comes over so that I just have to import it. I could install it from scratch on her Mac but this would mean a lot of configuration which I actually already did to the exported appliance.
