VBoxManage internalcommands createrawvmdk

In trying to configure VirtualBox 4.1.8 to run Windows 7 installed via BootCamp on OS X 10.7.2 (Lion) concurrently with OS X, a number of posts here and elsewhere refer to using "VBoxManage internalcommands createrawvmdk". However, I am unable to find documentation on this (i.e. VB user manual) other than running the command from a Terminal shell window with no arguments, which displays a usage page ending with the following: "WARNING: This is a development tool and shall only be used to analyze problems. It is completely unsupported and will change in incompatible ways without warning." I am able to boot into Windows 7 successfully through BootCamp, but am worried about what seems like a pretty process involving unstable internal program commands, shell trickery and boot-time AppleScripts to get VisualBox to make the BootCamp partition available while running OS X, and having it blow up if "VBoxManage internalcommands" changes, and leaves me with a busted system. Windows activation also seems to be at least potentially problematic with this approach. I'm sorry this is not a more specific question, but does anyone have any input on this?
