virtual disk not found

Post by tank79 »

When I try to install my Win7 iso, the first boot I get the ROBO error so I run the diskpart fix:
x:\diskpart
select disk 0
create part primary
select volume 1
format fs=ntfs quick
exit

Then reboot and continue the install. That second boot gets all the way to the point where the install tries to write to the vdisk and then throughs the following error:

The disk selected for installtion (0) does not exist. Make sure the unattend answer file's <ImageInstall> setting references a valid disk on this computer, and then restart the installation.

I have to admit I am pretty weak on Windows, does anyone have a suggestion?

Hi,

I'm facing a similar issue with Mac OSX Lion and am unable to get past the following error while running virtualbox:

"the disk selected for installation (0) does not exist mac virtualbox..."

This happens irrespective of the Windows flavor I'm trying to install from an ISO image: Win7 / Win 2008 Server both offer same grief.

If someone has figured out the root cause / solution or workaround, I would really appreciate them sharing here.

Hi,

I would be very interested in having an answer to this problem as I encountered the same type of error.
Message is the same while trying to install Win7 through PXE boot.

Environnement : Ubuntu 12.04 Vbox 4.1.22

Regards.

Try a normal installation from a kosher setup CD, not an unattended install.

Thanx for your reply, but this is not possible in my environnement.

Anyway I found a workaround. This is not the best but at least it works !

Looks like SATA is not well supported. I had to change the VD from SATA to IDE and then everything was fine !

Regards.
