usb device automatically assign

Post by mischka2k »

hello,
I would like to permanently assign a usb-stick to a virtual machine, so this assigned automatically if the vm is restarted or loses connection to usb-device.
the devicefilter can not make any clear definition as prnt+port or over uuid.

What are my options here?

I'm not sure what your question is. You are obviously aware of device filters, hence you know that it's possible to create on which is tailored to fit a particular device class exactly. As you asking about dedicating a particular USB port? If so then AFAIK USB has no such feature.

thanks for the answer.

the problem of the device-filter is that I only assigns the device of this kind.
I would like to assign a specific device and be sure that no two identical devices are assigned to a vm.
Therefore, I am looking for a unique property by which I could assign the usb-device.

In that case you cannot distinguish two USB devices of that type.
