Trouble using windows 7 ISO

I went through the steps in mounting the ISO file by going into the settings of the VM and selecting storage and under IDE Controller adding a disk selected as the windows 7 ISO i purchased from the manufacture, and the disk is set under IDE Primary Master (Live CD/DVD is unchecked), but when I run it it gets all the way to "starting windows" then a new screen appears:

Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To fix the problem:
1. insert your windows installation disc and restart your computer
2. Choose your language settings, and then click "Next."
3. Click repair your computer

If you do not have this disc, contact your system administrator or computer manufacturer for assistance.

Status: 0xc0000225
Info: An unexpected error has occurred

Any ideas on how I can fix this?

you need cd/dvd passthrough set to on in the guest settings.

I saw somewhere someone said that the mac os x can't currently run the 64bit version guest so that may be the problem though I will try your solution first. In any case I'm going back to download the 32 bit version.

Sorry, i have no MAC. But some time ago there were some threads about pressing "64" at boot prompt, so that the Mac OS starts in a 64 Bit Mode. Try using search function, i don't know it exact.

Currently the only thing under IDE controllers is the windows 7 iso, what additional drives do I need to add in order to select the passthrough settings under guest

Passthrough is not available for ISO files, only for the native cd drive.

Yes I realize this which is why I was asking if there was a drive I was missing. If I'm not missing something do you have any idea why I get the error when trying to run windows 7?

There just seems so much wrong with this post.
First you say you purchased this from the manufacture which would indicate a mountable cd/dvd. If this is the case it would be able to mount via the host drive and as such would have a setting for passthrough. During normal setup the guests HDD will be created on the sata controller and that is what you will install to.
Now you are saying that you are downloading these files which means that they are not the standard installable media and how can you purchase these?
In any event if you receive a driver not found issue it is more than likely a bad/corrupt download.

Let me start over. I went to the microsoft website and purchased the windows 7 iso download online. No CD it was a direct download in the form of an iso. When I setup virtualbox with this iso it gets to "starting windows" then proceeds to the error screen described above in the initial post. Why it does this I don't know.
