Low Disk Space Warning

Hi,

So I am new to virtualization and just created my first Virtual Machine so I can run my PC games from Steam on my Mac. I have a MacBook from 2008 and run the OS.X that came on it. I installed a version of Windows XP as my first VM. I only added 3 programs (Steam, Borderlands, and an Anti-virus) and not other content so far but a warning cropped up that says I don't even have enough space to open Steam. I checked the Local Disk (C) and it says that I have 9.98 GB total but only 204kB of free memory.

How do I fix this? I don't mind needing to use a command entry, I'm fairly savvy with computers but have never done something like this before so I'm a little out of my league here.

Any help will be much appreciated

Thanks,
Vbox_noob

What do you mean with fix? More free space through deleting files or resizing the virtual harddisc?

If you create a VDI of 10 GB and install a few games, then it only makes sense that you will end up with insufficient space. Games these days require several GB. Trying to install it all on a 10 GB disk, which also needs to hold the OS that is a few GB, is nothing more than a disaster waiting to happen.

As Stefan said, you either need to remove things from the Guest or enlarge it's drive. See the User Manual for how to do that. After you've enlarged the VDI, you must then use a partitioning tool like Gparted to increase the size of the partition.

The game Borderlands will run very poorly, because VB isn't made to run games like that. It's too demanding on the hardware. You're much better off using Bootcamp or buying a PC. I find it already odd that you have a Mac while you want to play games. They just aren't made for that (or games aren't made for OSX actually).

Thanks for the help, I think I'm gonna try to use Boot Camp instead, seems like that's the way to go for what I want to use XP for. I have an old desktop that I used to game on but it's pretty jacked up. I have a Mac because I do a lot of video editing and wanted Final Cut Pro and haven't been into comp gaming in a while.
