virtual disk

Dear all,
I have a very big and urgent problem.
I had a problem with my debian guest: simply it has halted during an apt-get activity and now it doesn't boot more.
Currently my virtual machine boots just in safe mode but I haven't access neither to USB devices nor ethernet interface.
I NEED to retrieve some files I have in some folders and, as root in safe mode, I can find them.
How I can copy these files to my host computer (MAC OSX)?
It is possible to mount the virtual disk of this image to another virtual machine to retrieve these files?

Moreover I found it is possible to creare several virtual disks and to add them to a virtal machine, but when I can't find this new disk into the virtual machine...
how it is possible to mount virtual disks into virtual machines?

thanks
Andrea

Yes

You need to mount the drive before you can see it. Type man mount in your guests terminal to see the proper syntax.

Thank you so much for your quick anser Perryg, but this is what I do. It says that I need to specify the type of the disk... Which is its type? I have to format it? how?

I would not know for sure because I didn't install and format it but it would probably be ext3 or ext4
If you install a new VM of the same you should be able to see what that defaults to.

That or you can try to repair the defective one since you can get into the OS in recovery mode.
