Strange mouse problem

I have had three different installs of VB on two different versions of linux. The first install was on ubuntu gusty and the mouse worked fine. the second was also on gusty and the third i have now in on mandriva 2008. In all cases I have been running XP as the guest an have had guest additions installed.

So this is my problem. I have a notebook and I use a USB mouse. THe mouse works great in linux. When I start my virtual machine I am not longer able to move the CURSOR with the USB mouse...i can with the track pad. Now is where I think it gets strange. In windows when i move the usb mouse around I can click on things but the cursor is invisible. The curosr does move when i use the track pad however...its like i have a normal mouse (track pad) and a second invisible mouse (usb mouse). I have tied turning off mouse intedration but it does not help. After I hsut off the machine I cant use the USB mouse in linux until I reboot.

I need XP for work, I need to use Adobe Flash.

Any help would be great!!

Thanks!
