Hello,

I can not open my VM anymore. When I doubleclick on the vbox-file I get the following error:

Trying to open a VM config '/Volumes/HDD/Users/me/Library/VirtualBox/Machines/Windows XP/Windows XP.vbox' which has the same UUID as an existing virtual machine.
errorcode:NS_ERROR_FAILURE (0x80004005)

When I just open Virtualbox the error for the VM is

Could not find an open hard disk with UUID {0d1090f4-f7ea-4cb5-b7b3-2f66a63c817e}.

Can somebody help me with this? Before I got this problems I tried to increase the memory size for the VM from 1GB up to 4GB because I had upgraded my macbook pro from 4 to 8GB. When starting the VM (WIN XP) it suddenly stuck.

I tried to find something equivalent in the forum but I did not succeed. Has somebody an idea?

I think I have this fixed. Here is how I did it:

1. (VM must be powered down) In Vbox Manager, highlight VM, right-click, and select Remove. All xml files for the VM are untouched in /home/users/<user name>.
2. In Vbox Manager, select Machine -> New.
3. Specify all particulars about the new Windows 7 VM and use the legacy .vmdk in /home/users/<user name> as the disk.

VM powers on just fine after this. So far, so good…
