Migrating VMs from PC Host to Mac Host

Hey everyone, I've been learning and loving Virtual Box over the past few months.

AMAZING PROGRAM!

Anyway, I am in need of migrating a VM I created on a Win 7 host over to a Macbook Air that I just got. Is there a clean, documented method for this process?

Thanks!

There is a export/import function in VBOX.

Other, easier and faster: Copy vdi-files to the new host. Create there a new guest, point to existing vdi files. Possibly 2 problems: does not work with snapshots, new guest must have same settings.

Ok, thanks! Just was not sure that exported from pc and imported on mac would work. Guess we'll find out! :-)

Worked flawlessly!

On the PC
File > Export Machine
I just used the defaults and proceeded with the export.

Copied the .ova file to my external hard drive

On the Macbook Air
File > Import Machine
Again, just accepted defaults during the import process, and imported straight from the external drive.

First time boot up failed b/c of the network card settings. So, I just disconnected the network card, and was able to boot up right away. From there I just added a new network card to the VM and all was well.

Virtual Box has now grown in my eyes to be even MORE cool!
