Possible to have dock item to launch VM (Windows) full scree

Hi I've just installed VB and made a VM with Windows on my iMac. I require Windows (XP) on as my wife requires it for certain tasks. I use to use Boot Camp, but was inconvenient to keep restarting just to check/do something in Windows for a few mins.

So what I would like now I have my Windows VM all setup, is a dock time that she can just click and "Windows" opens up full screen for her. She a technophobe so need it this easy. Also then to close it how does she do this?

I'd love just a dock item to be there so she can't go wrong, and my Windows VM just open and she never needs to click any setting for full screen this, etc. Otherwise I'll have to put Boot Camp back on again.

Any help gratefully accepted.
cheers

You can create a launcher by clicking on create a desktop icon (Look in VirtualBox main manager). When she is done all she needs to do is click the start button and then shutdown, just like on metal.

Note: if you shutdown in full screen it will open in full screen.

I right clicked on the Main manager and it indeed created a alias on the desktop. However I cannot draft this to the dock where I want it. Is there a reason for this? Or can I do anything else?

cheers

If you know how to create a custom launcher the information that you need is in that link. I don't have a MAC so I can't help you with your primary PC and how to use it, but the code is fairly simple.

Code: Select all

/<absolute path>/VirtualBox --comment "Windows-XPpro" --startvm "<UUID of the virtualguest>"

sorry I don't, I suppose I;ll have to try and read manual. I need to get this working for the wife as without it everything else is just too technical for her!
