Unable to use existing VMWare disk with Virtual Box

Hi,

I'm running the latest version of Virtual Box on a Windows 7 host. I have an old Windows XP VMWare disk image that I need to use with Virtual Box and I'm having a bit of trouble.

I've looked the various tutorials around about using a vmdk image with Virtual box but I'm still stuck.

What I"ve done to date:

1. Removed the VMWare guest additions.
2. Shutdown the VM
3. Created a new VM in Virtual Box with IO-APIC enabled using the VMWare disk image

When I try to boot the Virtual Box VM, I just get a black console. Windows never appears to even try to load/boot. I've tried disabling IO-APIC, I've converted the vmdk to a vdi, tried the different chipsets for processor and IDE controller. Nothing has made a difference.

Any other ideas to try?

Thanks,

Andy

You should look at the original VMware settings. They must match. IIRC scsi is one of the settings that others have had to use.
Also you should try to boot to safe mode and see if there are any other drivers that need to be replaced.
