regular segfault of unknown origin

Post by bkleine »

Hi,

I am experiencing regular segfault which I can not explain.

I have a one week old fresh ubuntu 11.10 installation with all updates and the actual virtualbox with the proper, dkms installed kernel modules. the extension pack is installed as well. The only program I am using actually under windows is the tax program wiso sparbuch, almost the last one which i can not substitute for.

The logfile is to large to upload. I can send it by email if required.

Greetings

Can you compress the log file or split it up and compress?
We really need to see it to try to figure out the issue.

Code: Select all

VirtualBox 4.1.6 r74713 linux.x86 (Nov 4 2011 14:11:20) release log
00:13:57.813 Guest Additions information report: Version 4.0.4 r70112 '4.0.4'
Suggest that you update the guest additions to match the release version of VirtualBox.

Do you really have 20 snap shots?

HI, that has escaped my attention that the guest additions were out of tune.

Yes, I have 20 snap shots since I have a very slow unstable system and whenever a larger windows update (50 packages at once) had taken place, I save the actual state. Furthermore, there some snap shots out of the main tree since I had a serious harddisk error and I had to go back five snapshots to get back a working system. The skipped snapshots cannot be removed since there appears to be some error in the tree.

I save all my data out of windows in a shared folder. BTW, is there any possibility to give to these sharefolders the same rights than to the virtual harddisk, that questions: Do you allow copying across zones (my translation) are dismissed?

Thanks for help! I will come back if something goes wrong still.

Hi,

while the wiso steuersparbuch still had some problems, windows remained stable for the last hrs. even "hibernating" worked.

Thanks a lot for your help!
