Problem with virtualbox 4.1.6

I installed virtual box 4.1.6 on windows 7 and installed guest OS Oracle Linux 6 on it.
In the Network Adapter i selected Bridged adapter and the Name as DW1501 Wireless-N WLAN Half mini card.
Other names in the drop down Name are Realtek PCIe GBE family controller and Virtualbox host only ethernet adapter
Whenever i try connecting to internet via linux in virtual box i get the error as "UNKNOWN Host" (when i run the test command
ping http://www.google.com i get the error
Unknown host http://www.google.com)
Please help if i need to change the settings or is it an issue due to the McAfee antivirus which i'm using and what can be done to resolve this

What does ifconfig -a tell you?
Can you ping yahoo.com by ip address 72.30.2.43?

You don't have an IP address. How did you setup the guest?

Do you have a router in the network?

You can try setting the network mode to NAT and see if it gets an address and whether or not you can get on the NET.
If that works then you will need to figure out why you are not getting an address from the router.

You don't need to send me a PM each time you reply. I get notified by email.
Also you need to make sure that the host part of the settings is correct. Maybe it should be the pcie instead of the mini device.

The realtek PCIe. You say this is in the selection too right? Have you tried it?

Since NAT does not work either I must assume that you have not configured the guests network adapter.
I know it exists because I can see the MAC address for it. So I would go into the guest and configure the adapter.
Normally this would happen automatically but on occasion it fails (guest specific)
You can also try to post the results of VBoxManage list bridgedifs from the hosts command window.
Note: you must be in the directory that has the VirtualBox files for this to work.
Anyway it is late here and I have a dinner to go to, so I will not be able to help until tomorrow.

DW1501 Wireless-N WLAN Half-Mini Card Looks to be the right selection for the host side.
But, you have tried this already. This leads me to think that either the Wireless router is set to not provide addresses unless there is a special condition met, like MAC addresses. The issue must be that the guest just needs to have the network adapter setup.
You can select this interface and then try manually setting the address information for the guest and see if it works.
