Hi,

First, sorry for my english.

I have 2 real partitions, each one with Windows XP Pro SP3. They are both using SATA AHCI Drivers. I created a VMDK file that point to first Windows XP and I would like to open it from my 2nd partition. But when I launch it, I got the blue screen, just like if the AHCI drivers were not find. But that was normal because on my virtual machine's settings, I was using an IDE drive. So I deleted it, added a new SATA Controler, and add my VMDK hard disk to the new SATA Controler. In the attributes section I selected type : AHCI and port count 1.

Here is my settings :

But it is still not working. Here is what blue screen I got :

So I should I config my virtual Machine ?

Thanks !

Search this site for MergeIDE. It needs to be run on each XP installation. Also, reconfigure your VMs to use IDE until you have them working. The fact that your physical hardware uses SATA is not relevant.

Finally, please be aware that if it's your intention to run each XP installation both native and as a VM then you should read this howto. That howto scenario has Linux as the host, hopefully you'll be able to work out the Windows host equivalents.
