[Solved] Need to ping Guest hostonly adapter from Host

I assume that you are trying to setup a "SNORT" box, am I right?
If so have you actually installed and configured snort?

Yes, My snort is working fine as shown in the Diagram, Now I want my host machine to report to SNORT VM before my browser traffic could go out to the Internet.

Well then you should ask the SNORT people what the problem is. You do know that the intent of SNORT is to actually block requests that are deemed to be not acceptable right?

If Snort was the problem then the configuration shown in the diagram above should not work. I tried the same kind of configuration with the base OS of Windows, over there I was able to ping the Host Only interface of Guest SNORT.

Hi Perry,

You have helped me a lot At last I found out what is really going on with my machine.

Whenever my eth0 of host is up Firestarter is starting up and is blocking all the packets from going to the SNORT vm. I will follow up with the firewall guys from here on, Once again thanks a lot for your help.
