Can't download Microsoft .NET and other

Hi,

Has anyone had issues using installers that download from the internet?

I always get an error. It is as if there is a problem with my internet connection but there is not as I can browse online fine.

The error I get is.

You need to install Dot Net Framework 4.0 from Microsoft's site

I can't install .net 4 either.

I get message.

Download failed with error code 0x800c0005

Any ideas please?

Download it via some other machine or neighbor/friend.

Okay I managed to get it installed via the full download.

But I am still having some problems that some programs won't connect to the internet :S

Like the adobe flash updater thing always fails as it can't connect to the internet...

Another software won't work is it says "cant connect to login server" (the server is fine).

What could be restricting these program from accessing the internet?

DNS not working properly or missing, try google.com and then try the IP address for google.com if the IP works ok you know your DNS is not working for the Guest.

Both going to Google.com and pinging the IP worked.

Doesn't that mean everything "should" work?

From the Guest as well? what if you run a speedtest from the Guest and follow the test as it runs to see if the test is going smoothly. I have seen some issues with Guest connections on a mac host with NAT. Maybe try a different lan driver for the Guest like virtio.

By Guest do you mean from VM? That is what I tested it in.

I will try Virtio see if that makes a difference. Cheers

How should I install virtio from VM?

By downloading the drivers and copy them to the VM, shutdown the VM and change the lan driver, start VM and it should detect the new lan card, point to the downloaded drivers and your done.

If someone thinks they can solve the problem please let me know and I will pay a small fee. You can access my PC or MAC and do it via some software.

Okay it might be a problem with IE not being able to connect to the internet. I am thinking these programs might use IE to connect to the internet. The report from IE is this.

SOLVED

Was an IE issue....

Just reset all the IE settings solved it haha. So simple yet last thing I would of thought.
