Enable Intel VT for Direct I/O?

Before I update to VirtualBox-4.1.6-74727-Linux_amd64 I'm wondering if I should enable Intel VT for Direct I/O (it is not enabled presently in the BIOS). I'm running a Slackware 64-bit 13.37 host with a Win7 64-bit guest -- I've been unable to enable 3-D acceleration no matter how I install the guest additions (I've tried doing that in Windows safe mode to no avail).

Is it a good idea to enable this setting in the BIOS and will that permit Win7 to do its thing and not adversely affect the Linux side of the world?

Before turning it on, you first have to know what it does and thus help you in any way. I can tell you that it won't help you in any way. 3D is only available for Guests if the Host has proper 3D capabilities.
