Hi All,
(Note: I have also posted this question in the Linux host section)
Looking for some advice on troubleshooting some mouse and keyboard integration issues. My environment consists of:
Host: Linux Mint 11 (using the Ubuntu 11.04 deb)
Guest: Windows XP SP3 with guest addons installed.
Vbox: Version 4.1.6 with 4.1.6 extensions
What I'm seeing is that mouse integration is partially working. The guest does not seem to register mouse movement at all but only mouse button clicks and 'un-clicks'. For example, if I try to move a window, I can click and hold on the title bar, move the mouse (the window does not move with the mouse) and then release the mouse button at which point the window immediately appears where it has been 'dropped'. If I am selecting text, a similar thing occurs, click and hold, no text selection occurs while the mouse moves, when the mouse button is released, all the text between the location of the mouse click and the mouse release appears selected.
The other thing that I notice is that the mouse cursor will only change 'context' (eg from a pointer arrow to a text cursor) on click events and will not refresh until the mouse button is clicked in a different context. Eg, normally just moving/hovering the mouse over text will make it show a text editing cursor and then when it moves away it returns to an arrow. What I see is that I have to click on text to make the cursor change to the text cursor, the it will stay as the text cursor until I click somewhere else that prompts it to return to the arrow pointer.
I have other examples, but those are probably the most profound ones. I have not been able to find any others having a similar issue after much googling an searching of these forums but hopefully someone out there has seen this before.
Any help greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Chris

Re: Mouse integration not registering motion events
Hi All,
Managed to solve my own problem and thought I'd post it. My issue degraded (possibly after powering off the VM during boot) to the state of blue screening on start up with an error regarding intelppm.sys. Some research showed that this has been seen before and the fix was to:
1) Boot in safe mode
2) Open a cmd prompt
3) Run 'sc config intelppm start= disabled'
4) Reboot
5) Possibly need to reinstall the client tools.
This fixed my blue screens but ALSO fixed the mouse integration issues I'd been having for a while.
Thanks,
Chris
