I read the manual and followed the automatic instructions at http://www.virtualbox.org/manual/ch08.h ... aredfolder .

I have Windows 7 running on my laptop and a guest RHEL version 6.1 in the Virtual box.

I have a folder named C:\vmshare with a file in it. I want to share this with the guest RHEL instance.

I goto DEVICES -> SHARED FOLDER and add this folder C:\vmshare to the MACHINE FOLDERS option. It adds it but moves the path to TRANSIENT FOLDERS option. I checked AUTO MOUNT ON. After hitting OK, I do NOT see this folder as /media/sf_vmshare as mentioned in the manual.

To get this running manual mentions enabling GUEST ADDITIONS which I did by clicking the option "Install guest additions". How do I know if this guest additions is turned on? I mean I dont see anything visually happen after I click this menu item.

Clicking the install guest additions adds them to the guests cd drive. If it did not autostart then you have not installed the guest additions.
The easiest way to see if they are installed is to use the host+F toggle to go into full screen. If you see black around the actual guest insied a window then the additions did not install.

When i did full screen I see all black around the guest window. So now how I do install the Guest additions module ? I am confused..

yes that doesn't have the RHEL install information. I want to know how to add packages to the YUM repository also. Sorry I am new to RHEL. Yum intall doesn't find any of the packages ..Thanks for your info.
