I can't get the CD drive to work on guest OS
I am running Windows 7 on my MacBook pro which has OS X Lion. Every time I try to run/load a CD, it defaults to the MacBook desktop but does not show up on the Windows OS. How can I get the CD to launch on to the virtual Windows OS?

Did you click on the devices tab at the top and select it?

Then you must be in full screen or scaled mode. the host+F is the toggle for full screen and the host+C is the toggle for scaled mode.
Pressing them should put you in windowed mode and then you will see the devices tab. You can also select the CD at the lower right corner where the CD icon is.

I got it running, by going to Settings, Storage, IDE Controller, added a CD/DVD drive by clicking the Green + button, then clicked the CD icon on the right panel and chose the Host Drive from the list, I then checked the Passthrough box.
It works great, but one-time only as it defaults back to Empty when you shut down the Guest OS - I can't seem to find a way of making it permanent.
At least I could get the .exe file running!
