host-only adapter connect to internal network adapter

Post by lkahlenb »

Hi,

Can a guest having a host-only adapter ping a guest having only a internal network adapter ?

I got 2 guests running windows and linux, both should get only 1 network adapter enabled.
The windows should get host-only adapter (having on windows ip 192.168.56.10 and gateway 192.168.56.2) .
The linuxy one should get internal network adapter, p.e. intnet (network at linux configured with ip 192.168.56.41, gateway 192.168.56.2).
Both guests should be able to ping each other.
Could this work?
I know that guests having internal network can reach each other.
Guests having host-only can reach each other and the host too.

Any idea?

No. The internal adapter is isolated from the host.
