Code: Select all

00:00:00.880 Installed Extension Packs:

00:00:00.880 None installed!
You should install the extpack How to install Extension Pack

Code: Select all

00:00:01.280 Audio: Trying driver 'dsound'.

00:00:01.332 DSound: Could not initialize DirectSoundCapture

00:00:01.334 Audio: set_record_source ars=0 als=0 (not implemented)

00:00:01.336 AC97: WARNING: Unable to open PCM IN!

00:00:01.336 AC97: WARNING: Unable to open PCM MC!

00:00:01.336 VM: Raising runtime error 'HostAudioNotResponding' (fFlags=0x0)

00:00:01.336 Console: VM runtime error: fatal=false, errorID=HostAudioNotResponding message="Some audio devices (PCM_in, PCM_mic) could not be opened. Guest applications generating audio output or depending on audio input may hang. Make sure your host audio device is working properly. Check the logfile for error messages of the audio subsystem"
You should fix the sound.

Code: Select all

00:00:10.871 Guest Additions information report: Version 4.0.4 r70112 '4.0.4'
You should update the guest additions to match the version you are running (4.1.4)

Code: Select all

00:00:19.644 PIIX3 ATA: LUN#2: CD-ROM read error, 1 sectors at LBA 0

00:00:19.654 PIIX3 ATA: LUN#2: CD-ROM read error, 1 sectors at LBA 0
This keeps popping up in the log as well. Do you have a CD/DVD in the drive? Do you need this in the drive? If so I would find out why it produces errors.

You need to look through the log file you sent. It shows everything that I have highlighted here for you. Something you are doing is requesting the USB and without the extpack you will have issue.

To test what happens disable the USB2 and the sound in the guest settings and see what happens.

As long as you have issues indicated in the log file you run the risk of having problems with the guest.

Code: Select all

VirtualBox 4.1.6 r74713 win.x86 (Nov 4 2011 13:40:24) release log
00:00:13.192 Guest Additions information report: Version 4.0.4 r70112 '4.0.4'
I thought you said you had done everything I suggested. Looks to me like you have not updated the guest additions yet.
There is a fix for XP in version 4.1.4 Guest Additions that should take care of this problem too.
