I have run into an issue using (bad word) DOSbox; it does not support file locking for multi user DBASE IV...... it is beginning to make us loose records....

I tried to use Microsoft virtual PC xp mode but it seems to run everything BUT dbase! goes from c:dbase to c: next line in 1/2 sec and nothing happens....

So I am here looking; I searched for DBASE but see nothing related to this.

help please

VirtualBox is an application that allows various operating systems to run on a single PC. It has nothing to do with the file lock on a database.

sounds reasonable. Dosbox is not and so does not support file locking (my problem). I will continue to try to make this work - so far I have not been able to get my xp to access my network.... it made a virtualbox host-only unidentified network but it does not seem to get to my network thru my gateway to the internet.... do i maybe need to bridge this ? I get to my network on this computer thru a wireless network card... maybe I need to find a way to access that card instead? thanks for any help.

See Chapter 6 Virtual networking in your VirtualBox users manual for the explanation of the different network modes and what they do.
