First Run Wizard Runs Everytime
First Run Wizard Runs Everytime
I have Mac OSX Lion (Host) and Windows XP (Guest). All installed well and is working well.
Except that the First Run wizard pops up every single time. I just cancel it and windows continues to load. it is quite annoying and frustrating. Any way around it?
Thanks.

Re: First Run Wizard Runs Everytime
Are you referring to the First Run Wizard for configuring the VM when it's run for the first time? It should not open at all if you had it once before. In fact, you don't even get it if you create a new VM and open the settings prior to starting the VM.

Re: First Run Wizard Runs Everytime
Sounds like a host permissions problem. Have you tried "repairing permissions" ?rbhuwan wrote: Except that the First Run wizard pops up every single time. I just cancel it and windows continues to load. it is quite annoying and frustrating. Any way around it?
Maybe VB isn't reading the VirtualBox.xml file right. Because the only way I can make this happen on my Mac is to remove the VirtualBox.xml file. Make sure you can read and write to that file.

Re: First Run Wizard Runs Everytime
The First Run Wizard is a per VM setting. Whenever you create a new VM, you're presented by it once for that VM only. This is the item responsible for it:theDaniel wrote:Sounds like a host permissions problem. Wow!! That is great to know! I didn't start this thread, but I appreciate this information! Thanks Sasquatch!Sasquatch wrote: The First Run Wizard is a per VM setting. FWIW I put this line of code into the xml file, saved it and ran VB, but it made no difference; No "set-up wizard" ran.
So, should the OP find this line and delete it?

Re: First Run Wizard Runs Everytime
Worked for me. Make sure that VB isn't running, else it will overwrite the XML file and the changes will be reverted.theDaniel wrote:FWIW I put this line of code into the xml file, saved it and ran VB, but it made no difference; No "set-up wizard" ran.
The OP should see if this line is there. Or better yet, if changing settings are preserved. If they aren't, then it would seem that the file is read-only and he needs to fix that.

Re: First Run Wizard Runs Everytime
Thank you, yes, I saved first w/o VB running, but what can I say, I tried it twice but I didn't get "Mr. Wizard".Sasquatch wrote:Worked for me. Yep, that sounds like a very good point.Sasquatch wrote:The OP should see if this line is there. Or better yet, if changing settings are preserved. If they aren't, then it would seem that the file is read-only and he needs to fix that.
