guest doesn't work with raw hdd access

Hi,

I'm trying to assign three HDDs
- 3TB sata unpartitioned

in raw mode to my guest system
- Windows 2008 R2 Enterprise (2 cores, 7GB dedicated RAM)

In order to do so I created 3 VMDK files with these commands:

VBoxManage internalcommands createrawvmdk -filename c:\realhdd1.vmdk -rawdisk \\.\PhysicalDrive1
VBoxManage internalcommands createrawvmdk -filename c:\realhdd2.vmdk -rawdisk \\.\PhysicalDrive2
VBoxManage internalcommands createrawvmdk -filename c:\realhdd3.vmdk -rawdisk \\.\PhysicalDrive3

Within the Virtual Box frontend I assigned these three files / drives to my guest system.

While booting the guest stays for eternety in the loading screen.

Has anyone an idea what to do, in order to get the guest booting again. (Except removing the three files / drives... this works fine, but is no solution ;-))

Btw. the host is Windows 7 Ultimate x64 system (4x cores 12GB RAM).
No gimmicks like 3D acceleration enabled.

Kind regards

Wotuom

AFAIK VirtualBox does not support drives => 2TB.

Oh... ok thank you... sorry to hear that...
in this case there is no way except an hw raid controller with UEFI

Hi,
sorry for posting to this old thread, but I run into the same problem then the original thread creator.
So apparently this is still the case, right (was trying to use VB with a 3 TB usb drive attached, windows (7 or 2008 R2) would not boot up (both pre-installed and using the install dvd))?

Are there any plans to add support for bigger drives? This would be really great!
