USB straight to guest

Post by chrisd »

Is there any way to have the guest (in my case Windows 7) recognize a USB device as soon as it is plugged in, rather than having to select it from the bottom toolbar USB icon to mount it?

The program I'm trying to run basically needs to have direct access to the USB port so it can power on my device as soon as it's plugged in, rather than having my host power it on and then mount it to the guest OS. Is this possible or am I out of luck?

Try USB Filters and set cursor to guest windows before plug in the device.

Doesn't help. There's still a significant delay between the time the device is plugged in and starts charging, and the time that it's available to the guest OS. It seems as though the guest doesn't have direct access to the USB slot, only to the devices once they're plugged in and register on the host.

OK. On Linux hosts there is the possibilitie to blacklist usb devices. So the host doesnt load drivers when the device is pluggeed.

. Ask in a Mac Forum if there is the the same available.
