Sir / Madame ,
I have installed windows 7 ultimate on my apple mac book pro using virual box. I just updated my virtual box version to 4.1.4 , after that i started facing problems with my computer.
The computer is not detecting any device plugged through the usb ports.
The start up of my computer is now extremly slow : it takes 15 to 20 minutes as an average to start up. The built in microphone stopped working as well
your assistance is highly appreciated.
Best regards

If you post the log files, one of the geeks on this forum might be able to interpret it.
Also, just a thought, you might consider downgrading, back to what worked before the update.

Sounds like something isn't loading right. Did you try booting your Mac in Safe Mode to see if that makes a difference in startup speed? In Safe Mode the Mac doesn't load any third party software like startup items and kernel extensions. (VB won't work in Safe Mode.)
Maybe doing an uninstall and reinstall of VB would put things right. If you choose to do this, use the uninstall script in the downloaded DMG. I would also remove the preference files from ~/Library/Preferences/ org.virtualbox.app.virtualboxVM.plist and org.virtualbox.app.virtualbox.plist which the uninstaller does not remove.

The extension pack is installed, yes? [The Extension tab of Preferences of VirtualBox app.]

First of all thank you for your response.
I installed already the extension pack.
The problem i'm facing is that i can't uninstall vb because i'm using windows on my mac through virual box as well as many scientific softwares that seems impossible to me to get them now. I made already all the updates on my computer but i'm still facing the same problems.
do you think downgrading virtual box to the previous version might be a solution ? If yes i'll be greatfull if you can guide me to downgrade it.
Thank you
