Server 2008 R2 Networking Issue
Posted: 26. Oct 2011, 17:12
I'm getting into networking and trying to set up some servers on their own network. So far, I have two 2008 R2 servers, one set up as AD, DC, and DNS server, the other going to be my test exchange (learning that too)...
I have them both set to 'internal network' and can ping each other, but the ping comes back as the IPv6 instead of the IPv4 (not sure if that is what's causing the issue, just giving the data)...
Problem: I cannot add my server to the domain I created...when I attempt to add it, i get the user name and pw option, enter the info, and this error comes up:
"An attempt to resolve the DNS name of a domain controller in the domain being joined has failed. Please verify this client is configured to reach a DNS server that can resolve DNS names in the target domain."
Please keep in mind that I'm super new to networking and currently in the process of learning, but I'm not sure if this is a set up issue or a VBox issue...thanks for any help.
